Western Sydney Marathon is a community event not just for those in Western Sydney. We invite people from all over to visit Penrith for the event, and now that we run on a Sunday, offer the perfect opportunity to spend some time in the area and see all that Penrith has to offer.
Why not spend the day before taking in one or two of the many experiences Penrith and the Blue Mountains provides while staying near to the venue.
"I've raced the Western Sydney half marathon twice (2019, 2022) and have always had a great time in Penrith. The course is flat and fast, and it's pretty cool to race around the Regatta Centre. I was very impressed with the event organisation last year, and the community atmosphere on race day. It's a great (local) option to chase a PB if you're Sydney based (or down in Wollongong, like me). And a nice bonus - once you finish your race, it's a short drive into the lower blue mountains for brekky and a bush walk. A great day out."

Regatta Centre
Built for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games the Sydney International Regatta Centre is a multi-purpose venue that hosts a number of world class events each year. We are stoked to call it home of the Western Sydney Marathon for 11 years now. Open to the public on non event days it gives you a great chance to train before race day!
Penrith Whitewater Stadium
Sharing waters with the Sydney International Regatta Centre, the Penrith Whitewater Stadium hosted the canoe/kayak slalom events at Sydney 2000 and continues to hold its status as a world class venue for these sports, as well as offering whitewater rafting, rescue training and a host of other events. For the first time in 2023, Marathon and Half-Marathon runners will be able to run inside the venue as part of the course for the event.
